I wanted to call this colour smurf, it almost became that blue. In the end I lightened it up a little, it’s a really pretty blue! I needed the cheering up. I’m still feeling poopy, but feel like I’m on the mend.
I’m on a mission to improve my cuticles. I was using olive oil, but could never remember to put it on. So I invented a solution, cuticle balm in a container I can take with me and use when I remember! Well I likely didn’t invent it, I’m sure someone came up with something before me. I used a few of my soaping supplies, hemp oil, olive oil, coconut oil, essential oils, and mixed in some carnuba wax (wanted to keep it vegan so avoided beeswax) and vitamin E. I tweaked it a bit to be soft and creamy, but not so soft it wouldn’t stay in a tube.
The end result is a chapstick tube filled with balm that I can carry with me. I felt like a genious, and can’t wait to have nice cuticles again!!
I spent most of this afternoon playing with different formulas. I came up with a few good ones! I listed 2 new ones on etsy today. It was easy to do today because i didn’t feel like doing anything else, my throat is so sore! I just got over strep throat at xmas, but this is a different kind of suck. it takes a lot for me to go to the doctor, but tomorrow i am going, this is miserable!
I can’t quit messing with nail polish. I said I’d quit for awhile, but tonight as I was sitting on the couch nursing a sore throat, I got up and started playing again. I had a couple of kinda gross creations that got dumped right away, but one came out fab! It’s a bright blue jelly base mixed with a suspension base, and a shit ton of blue iridescent glitter! It feels like sand paper, but a nice coat of seche cleans it up beautifully. I just keep staring at it, it’s so pretty!!
Now I just need some sun to work with to capture the holographic glitter!
I was inspired by a contest on the Polish Alcoholic and Mommy Loves Nail Polish’s blogs and yellow was one of the colours. I was going to take a break from creating but this one came out so cool i had to share it. I didn’t put it on my own nails tho as i had just painted them with a blue shade I’m testing out and want to see how long lasting it is.
I’ve named this nail polish Stinger, as i was inspired by the colours in a wasp. This is shown with two coats with a clear top coat. I’ll be wearing this one come summer for sure!
I don’t know how anyone has a mail business in Canada. It’s so expensive to mail anything! I’m lucky to live close to the border so using usps is an option for me. But for ten dollar items, CP isn’t that feasible. 😦
If i package minimally, maybe i can get it thru lettermail?
Oh well, here’s something that doesn’t make me sad! Nail polish!!
This is a teal shade I invented. It’s a gorgeous colour, I’m going to do a mani with it this week when i get done free time and I’ll take done pics. I’m done making nail polish for a bit, so when I’m not experimenting i can keep a mani alive.
Does anyone buy mini or sample sized nail polishes? I have purchased a hundred regular sized polishes, and a grand total of 2 mini sizes. I’m trying to decide if it’s even worth stocking mini ones. By the time shipping gets paid for, it seems like little value for the money. But then I think of all the nail polishes I’ve worn once or twice, and the room it would save having them mini sized.
I wore this one for days this week, a record for me! It didn’t chip or peel at all. And that’s without a top coat. I really like this one, with one coat its still really bold. I did two coats, and it was very saturated. I took some pics of my nails but the pics were dark and looked terrible. So I did a few fake nails, the first one is one coat over a dark silver, second over my green i posted earlier, and last is two coats plain. There’s no top coat on any of them, so they could look nicer with one.
I’ve been making nail polish for awhile, and just started selling it. I sold two bottles today, I was very happy! So I went straight to the supply store and bought more bottles, and more mica and glitter. Not sure i need more, but it’s so much fun to make! I spent the afternoon trying different combinations. 2 were a compete failure, funny thing is they were shades I don’t care for, light green and white. 2 were hits, and one I’m undecided on. I’m going to try to make a glitterless shade of the two failures. Both failures were iridescent shades, I think if I leave out the glitter they will be winners. I’ll work on them more tomorrow, and will get some pictures. This is one of the colors i sold, i named it dragons scale.
This one makes me want to drink beer (not green beer, that is just wrong!) I called this one dropkick, after my beloved Dropkick Murphies! I made an amazing top coat to go over it, and it’s just over the top fantastic with it. I’ll post that one later, I want to get some pics of the two together. Going to get some photographing done this weekend if the sun actual comes out! It’s been so cold, but no sunshine.
